Voiles du Froid 2013: Reunion highlights

The Voiles du Froid 2013, which set off from Port Haliguen to Quiberon, this time reached Belle-Île-en-Mer, the location that hosted the first edition 21 years earlier. A return to its roots. Organiser Climalife accompanied by its many partners (Assurfroid, Clima+Confort, Eurovent Certification, GEA Heat Exchangers, HRS, Honeywell, ITE, Mobil Industrial Lubricants, Rpf and Snefcca.

After a very wet spring, this weekend took place under skies that were more clement than expected. The sea and thermals were thus particularly conducive to the pleasures of sailing. So much so that, overall, the sun made us forget the more or less generous showers on Saturday morning. The two types of boats, Dufour 34s and First 36.7, with different handicaps, made the race for the podium more open than ever. Hence the record number of teams rewarded.

The competition attracts more and more European participants every year… Germany, Belgium, Finland, Great Britain and the Netherlands were represented. Great first, to open up even more, Tunisians had joined them. It should also be noted that the Trophy won by the Benelux countries is leaving our territory for the first time.

This weekend in June is always a welcome break from busy schedules. A total of 19 crews were able to take advantage of this Breton escapade in joy and good humour. An edition faithful to the spirit of conviviality that has characterised this competition since its beginnings.

Participants from all four horizons were able to introduce everyone to the specialities of their regions during a large buffet organised at the port of the Palace on Friday evening. At the end of the Saturday regatta, each team was able to show off their artistic talents by reinterpreting a painting of the island by Monet. To achieve this, the competitors had to win colours in a canoe race.
